The Bible is not worshipped. The Bible is what God has told us,
and it's what we are to learn from and obey.
Meanwhile the example you point to is only another example for us
to learn from of how immoral people get when left to their own
devices and reject the truth of God or reliance of God, and how
we are not to act.
And you got the story wrong (as did that picture) - the
daughters thought there was no one left alive in the world except
for them and their parents (which of course was not true). They
are then the ones that got the father so drunk he couldn't even
think and then had sex with him to preserve their seed. The
father was so drunk that he did not perceive it was his daughters
- perhaps he thought it was his wife - although the fact that he
got drunk shows how immoral he, too, was, after spending years in
the city of Sodom, and being affected by its immoral perversions
for so long before it was destroyed.

Well, Curly, I consider myself a Crhristian, and I don't think that
I'm a religious nutter. I also studied the New Testament and the
theology of the Primitive Church at university, albeit as a minor (my
main degree is history).
You must understand that the Gospels are not what you might think they
are. They are not biography, still less history, but carefully crafted
theological documents based on surviving early Christian traditions.
They are designed to deliver a message (the word 'gospel' means 'good
news') about Jesus....who he is, his significance, and indicate a way
to person spiritual salvation through identifying with the only aspect
of God that we can comprehend.
Consequently, every story, every incident, makes a point. They are all
parables, but some are similies and others are metaphors. Take the
miracle at the Cana wedding feast, There are layers of meaning here,
The miracle is performed by Jesus to establish his significance. It
takes place at a wedding because he is the spiritual 'bridegroom' to
God's people, the 'bride'. The water sybolises the old covenanent
(agreement) with God, the wine the new, the superior understanding of
God (the 'best wine' has been reserved for the last, as the 'master of
the feast' says).
Take the Good Samaritan. The 'religious' jews did not ignore him
because they were natural bastards....they were (according to their
religious law) afraid of defiling themselves with his blood. They
represent the religious nutters of the day.
There is a world of a difference between personal spirituality and
idolatry of Scripture and 'religious' mumbo jumbo.
You have a peculiar form of 'Christianity' in America, that most of us
despise. Do not be taken in by it. The mainstream churches tend not to
be like that. In Europe, they are (politically) very much left of
centre....
