The Truth About Prescription Drugs: A Study in Marketing, Not Science

The following challenge is posted to demonstrate that the patent-based
model of medicine is based on not one, but two myths. The first is
that prescription drugs approved by FDA (and equivalent bureaucracies
in other countries) are "safe." The second is that the vast majority
of drugs marketed as a cure or preventive in the treatment of various
diseases have been measured using actual "health outcomes" in real
people over a meaningful period of time. Those here who support the
FDA edict that only drugs "treat" and "cure" diseases should review
the following list of 35 drugs which, at the time of original posting,
were the most successfully *marketed* prescription drugs available.

Here is the challenge (which incidentally has been posted many times
over the past few years): State the number of deaths per 1000 (or
fraction thereof) associated with each drug and the number of life
years gained (or lost) from its use. If you cannot point to
controlled studies showing that the drug in question saves more lives
than it takes, provide an independent scientific review of the drug's
use in the affected demographic, hopefully with a focus on safety, and
state the justification for its use in management of symptoms in the
absence of such data.

To date, in response to past postings of this challenge, no one has
responded with even one drug profile including the data requested, for
obvious reasons. FDA does not require such data, and it does not
exist. The patent-based model of medicine, rather than being
"evidence based," is in reality evidence *averse.*

These are good points. Good job.

I'll bet you'll get no answers from this group. They are, no doubt,
still in shock from the idea.

Troubling, isn't it.

http://www.thymeforhemp.viviti.com is a place I've created to help
share an alternative idea -- Drop your misconceptions and
misunderstandings, and come join a learning circle.

Rick Simpson is a man who began networking through his local legion in
Eastern Canada in order to get his message re: phrama nonsense, and
the curing properties of natural herbs, and for a while, they were the
only ones who listened. Now (just a few years later because of the
internet), his videos are viewed from my site--and others like it
(including you-tube) all day / night.

"Free your mind--and the rest will follow"...And finally it's not just
potheads listening now. This is just my two cents.

Cheers, and thanks for a great thread!
