Indeed, a very large part of our health care crisis, one that's been
completely left out of congressional deliberations (so far), has to do
with the pharmaceutical industry. Why should Americans pay 50% more
for pharmaceutical products than in other countries? Why should we use
more of these products, with worse results? Why are so many of the
pills that Americans take harmful, even fatal, when taken in properly
prescribed doses? It's just one more example, but a very important
one, of industry capture of our broken political process.
Melody, it's worth noting, supports the idea of holding pharmaceutical
company executives criminally liable for the damage they cause.
