Perhaps you could first explain what "gun romanticism" is, and what
leads you to believe women oppose it?
Jackson Harvey

And while you're at it, Mr. Cahill, explain why you think women have a
collective hive mind, and, unlike men, are incapable of forming *individual*
opinions.
By the way, FBI statistics indicate that crime victims who defend themselves
with a gun are more likely to escape unharmed than either those who submit
passively (as commonly recommended) or those who resist by other means. And
this is *especially* true of female victims. So perhaps those women who *do*
support armed self-defense are engaging in "gun realism," not "gun
romanticism".

back to haunt you later." (Capt. John Sheridan)

I never suggested *all* women oppose gun
romanticism -- just enough to give Al
Gore a safe margin in the polls.
You cannot keep Gore out of office, but
you can fight gun control in the future:
Don't let the 20% of women who are
adamantly against gun romanticism find
out you gun "rights" folk are really gun
romantics.
You can start by getting all gun
romantics to take my 2nd Amend. Test:
Second amendment test for gun "rights"
advocates:
The Second Amendment of the Bill of
Rights says:
AMENDMENT II - from the Bill of Rights:
A well-regulated militia, being necessary
to the security of a free State, the right
of the people to keep and bear arms,

Please answer these questions:
Multiple Choice Section:

of the following const. rights listed in
the first 10 amends.?

checked by individualist ownership of
arms on U. S. soil?

b. 38
c. a month of Sundays
d. twice
e. once
f. never
g. individualist ownership of guns
continuously checks government
by keeping the feds quaking in their
boots because of "violence telepathy."

were just terrorists and really only
wanted to encourage random acts of
violence, not checking the feds.
4. A "well regulated" militia means
a. being efficient in shooting an ethnic

b. an unemployed Hollywood actor
c. a Harvard law professor
d. the Supreme Court by hearing each
and every hardware case thereby
keeping all 800,000 lawyers busy.
e. popular vote
f. the constitution never explains this
because basic rights do not hinge on
arbitrary definitions of hardware. No
restrictions are placed on arms in
the 2nd amend.
g. a Usenet flame war
6. According to the _Federalist_ who
has "power of the sword?"
a. Tim McVeigh

d. 10%
e. 5%
f. what you'ld expect from watching
excitin' Hollywood movies.
g. it has never been determined
h. not important because precivil war
Americans were slaveowners and
not the intelligent enlightened
freedom loving political activists of
today's NRA.
8. Private gun ownership rates in
antibellum South were higher than the
North because
a. slaves would often try to escape
b. slavery induced a love of warfare

15. The founders made a distinction

battle with bad guys. (T/F)
Essay question
18. How did the early Americans combat
the effects of individualism?
Hell. _I_ oppose gun romanticism. That doesn't mean I oppose guns.
And I won't be voting for Gore.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the
most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under
omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep,
his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our
own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of
their consciences.

Which poll asked women if they oppose "Sitting around oiling your gun
fantacizing about a glorious gun battle with evil bad guys jes like the
hero of an excitin' Hollywood action movie?"
You wouldn't be misrepresenting the facts, would you?

Is this a trick question? I don't suppose libertarians like myself are too
inclined to believe that there are special "group's rights" that are somehow
or essentially different from individual rights, or that states have some
superset of rights. Let's discuss this a bit, Mr. Cahill.
