stolen handguns- my email to my Michigan state senator

Michigan law allows a handgun owner up to 5 days to report to the
police, a lost or stolen handgun.

I suggested to State Senator, Liz Brater (Ann Arbor), that the law
should be changed to require such a loss or theft be reported
IMMEDIATELY upon discovery. This is the case in a few states,
including Massachusetts.

The immediate reporting of a lost or stolen handgun gives the police a
better chance of solving the theft and getting the gun out of the
hands of a criminal.

Liz Brater refuses to consider or reply to my suggestion.

p.s. whatever state you reside- YOUR handgun reporting law probably
needs strengthening also.
