happen is that after the DoJ and FBI have been cleaned out, the new
President has to send in a large task force of DoJ and GAO to go and
investigate what is actually going on in Alaska. The fact that
corruption seems to go unpunished there makes me think that Ted Stevens
crimes and Palins ethics violations are merely the tip of the iceberg.

I chanced upon a 'street interview' of two Alaskan women
a reporter came upon in San Fran. They agreed that Alaskans
have "low expectations" for any of their politicians. So,
in short, Alaskans just don't give a shit. The pols don't
bother them and they don't bother the pols.
So who are we to tell 'em otherwise ? That's the purpose
of a US 'state' ... it's a place where the locals can
kinda do things THEIR way.

four conservatives, four liberals and one who switches back and forth.

FWIW, the two justices most likely to retire are Breyer and Ginsburg.
Obama will replace those liberals with two more liberals.
