I often read postings here by Gun Nuts who make a claim that is contrary to my experience or common sense. To back up their claims they quote a link to some 'news' site that is just one step up from a free Supermarket 'newspaper'. Turdpilot even went so far as to quote a 20 year old article from the thinsheet USA Today. God knows what search engine he uses.
However, when Johnny Bravo posted that that the UK was crime ridden as proven by 14 Brit cops being killed in 2002 and he cited the BBC, I decided to check it out. What I found was that the 14 cops died in accidents.
'Statistics show that road accidents are the greatest threat to officers on the job. The national police officers roll of honour recorded 14 deaths in the line of duty last year - 13 officers died in traffic accidents and one died of natural causes'
Johnny certainly landed a knock out blow... NOT, with his crushing revelation of how many Brit cops get killed in the line of duty. LOL.
Next he tried to do the Two Feet Shuffle and argue that he was in fact commenting on those who were "killed on duty" not "died on duty". These cops were killed in situations which had no relevance to the fact that they were cops.

Back in the 70s, I was in the Personnel Reliability Program, authorised to be one of the two people required by regulations to sign for all chemical/biological/radiological equipment - including weapons. Part of the procedure for being in the program included a psychological evaluation.

Hey Ivor. Read my post under "Defense of Guns" below. If you need a web site to verify it, I'll happily oblige. Your "experience or common sense" doesn't align with the facts.

If that was, by any chance, in Iraq, I know some people who would like to speak with you. Just kidding! Not meaning anything bad!

It is
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/3/21/205139.shtml During the 19th century, and most of the 20th, Britain enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as an unusually safe and crime-free nation, compared to the United States or continental Europe. No longer.

The International Crime Victims Survey, conducted by Leiden University in Holland, found that England and Wales ranked second overall in violent crime among industrialized nations.

You said 10 in 10 years; you can't back up your lies that's not my problem.
"And in the last 10 years less than 10 cop deaths have been attributed to perps, regardless of weaponry." - Ivor P. Standing
"However, more than 50 officers in England and Wales have been killed by suspects since 1980. "
Doesn't really fit in with your 10 in 10 years claim, does it?
Cops killed by perps, regardless of weaponry. 2003 Gerald Walker, Stephen Oake, Ian Nigel Broadhurst 2002 Bryan Reginald Moore, Andrew Carl Munn 2001 Alison Armitage 2000 William Norman Thompson, Jon Odell 1999 Stephen Jones, Raja Basharat Ahmed, Kulwant Singh Sidhu
Didn't quite take 10 years, did it?
And instead of replying in the thread you started, you're ran off like a girl to start yet another thread, even posting a large part of my message from that thread here. If I'm so easily dealt with, why are you running away and posting threads you hope I won't see rather than defending your bullshit in the thread you started.

That's not what you said yesterday: "Of the 14 dead cops, one was shot, one was stabbed and one was run over by the perp."

The original post that I was responding to quoted US cops killed in 2003. So I responded with a roll call of Brit cops killed in 2003. I accepted your total of 14 because I assumed that you would be comparing like to like. Instead you quoted a figure for a different year to that being discussed.
Either way, you can do the Two Feet Shuffle all you want but it will not hide the fact that you are soooo stupid that you read just a headline and post on that basis.

You have not been paying attention. Pat is very much opposed to the war and current US occupation of IRAQ.

Don't count me in your little tally. Gun confiscation is so bizarre in its' intent and outcome as to be psychotic. Mr. Hines sees the situation *clearly*, which leads him to assess it objectively and arrive at his conclusions.
He says he has the right to defend himself using all available means.

Of the 14 dead cops, one was shot, one was stabbed and one was run over by the perp."
Your 2003 claim is yet another lie, unless you don't know the 2003 figures either, 13 officers died on duty in 2003 (According to the National Police Officers Honor Roll), one of them, Ian Nigel Broadhurst, was shot to death and died Dec 26, 2003.
I don't see one stabbed, one run over and one shot to death; yet another lie of your exposed. Apparently lies and bluster are all you have.
>Either way, you can do the Two Feet Shuffle all you want but it will >not hide the fact that you are soooo stupid that you read just a >headline and post on that basis.
You're the one who has repeatedly shown that he knows nothing about crime statistics for his own country, much less anywhere else.

Are you retarded or something. There were 13 names in that one web page. How can you read ONE WEB PAGE and missed the entries for the murdered cops. Even for a gun nut, you are one stupid SOB.
STABBED - Detective Constable Stephen Oake - Jan 14th - While engaged with other officers in an anti-terrorist operation at premises in North Manchester, one of three suspects who had been detained at the premises suddenly broke free and attacked the officers with a large knife, injuring several of them; in assisting his colleagues Constable Oake was stabbed in the chest and fatally wounded and died soon afterwards.
RUN OVER - PC Gerald Walker - 7 January - after a stolen car was abandoned in Bulwell, Nottingham, the officer, a dog handler, gave chase on foot with his dog; he attempted to arrest the suspect as he drove away in another car, the officer was dragged along the road by the car and suffered serious head injuries from which he later died

I was being facetious for God's Sake. You obviously do not see much of that in your part of the world. You paint a picture of gun nuts being moral and ethical. I have a hard time believing that when I read the posts from the Usual Suspects. In much the same vein Americans go on about the American Way, upholding the rights of the individuals blah blah blah. The Iraq situation shows that view is just as realistic as the one about gun owners.

You seem to have cut off your claim where you said there were 14 names, not 13.

YOU ARE RETARDED. lol. The last time I saw this level of stupidity was when Thor use to hang out here. His best moment when he went round shouting 'fowl, fowl, fowl'. All you can do is to blow smoke. You said 14 so I assumed that there were 14 cops killed in 2003. Now you are telling me that there were 13 and that none of them had been run over or stabbed, contrary to the web site that YOU are citing. By the way, you do realise that you are making the point that very few Brit cops get killed by perps? What an idjit.
