There is no reason for a 10 year old to use a gun for any reason. Only
an idiot would give a gun to a child that age.
God forbid you teach them responsibility and take the mystery out of
firearms. What a buffoon.
That's the typical response of the troll known as Lookout. All he can
do lately is just bleat nonsense. He just wants attention.
Yeah, you'll just wait until your idiot spawn find a gun and kill themselves
or someone else.
My experience has been that kids who shoot with thier parents are almost 100%
unlikely to involve themselves in drugs or other antisocial behaviors. Helps
to make 'em responsible. Can't have that, can we?

What mystery? You're making shit up. Wait until the can be held
legally responsible for their actions. Be a goddamn parent and teach
them responsibility WHEN IT'S APPROPRIATE.

First..my gun is locked up. She can't get at it. Besides..she's 22 now

that make any sense.

We see kids shooting and killing other kids almost weekly now.
They shouldn't be given a gun to hold until they are legally
responsible for their actions. That makes common sense you jackass.
Apparently our kids are responsible enough to habdle firearms.
Yes there is. Now this young girl has been taught gun safety.
We just like pointing out your stupidity.
You begin teaching responsibility at the earliest age, before they begin
to learn to be irresponsible, like so many are today. Just take a look at
all those dumb reality TV shows with people doing the stupidest things.
And new ones crop up every season. Monkey see, monkey do. Idiots!
The National Shooting Team is selected based on performance in
competition. Olympic Gold Medallist, Kim Rhode has been a member of
the National Team since she was 14 years old. Members of the National
Team compete in International competitions like World Cups and the Pan
American Games in order to shoot high enough score to qualify for the
Olympic Games. Several months before the Olympic Games, Team members
compete for the opportunity to be a member of the US Olympic Shooting
Team.
It takes a lot of work to become a member of the US Olympic
Shooting Team. You can do it! And with members of the National
Shooting Team ranging in age from 15 to over 50, it's never too late
(or too early) to start down the Road to the Olympics.

There are a lot of ignorant people- like Lookout- who just want to
pass their fear of guns along to their children. That's just another
form of child abuse.

Not to mention these gems:
Relationship between type of gun owned and percent committing street,
drug and gun crimes.
Illegal gun:
Street crimes = 74%
Drug use = 41%
Gun crimes = 21%
No gun:
Street crimes = 24%
Drug use = 15%
Gun crimes = 1%
Legal Gun:
Street crimes = 14%
Drug use = 13%
Gun crimes = 0%
"The socialization into gun ownership is also vastly different for
legal and illegal gunowners. Those who own legal guns have fathers who
own guns for sport and hunting. On the other hand, those who own
illegal guns have friends who own illegal guns and are far more likely
to be gang members. For legal gunowners, socialization appears to take
place in the family; for illegal gunowners, it appears to take place
'on the street.'"
"Boys who own legal firearms have much lower rates of delinquency and
drug use and are even slightly less delinquent than non owners of
guns."

Based on that it appears we should make firearms training mandatory in junior
high school.

In your tiny brain it's never "APPROPRIATE", is it?
Failing to prepare your children for the adult world is truly the
ultimate form of child abuse.
What a nervous nellie. I was shooting at 10. Most of my friends from
that time were, too. Almost everyone I know of an "older generation"
had their rifles by then. I know of not a *single* case of misuse or
abuse. No accidents, no murdering. Nothing but safe development of
high art capabilities. My gf's two grand daughters got introduced to my
.17 HMR rifle last year. The little one was 7 years old. They shot 22
pistols as well. Very attentive, very careful, and they both had very
good trigger technique.
Your opinion is clearly based on gross ignorance of firearms, as well
as children because if you knew the first thing about either you would
not be opening your yap and making a fool of yourself.
Go get yourself a lifetime supply of brown paper grocery bags. You
need them as badly as anyone I have ever met, and that is really saying

I would say you could certainly start some rudimentary training--

If this is true, then you are a hypocrite.
Nothing you can say from this point on has any value.

It took you this long?

Wrong again. She can swim.
LEARN about? Sure. Touch one? Not until they are of legal age to
handle the consequences. That only makes sense. Did you let your kid
drive under age? Of course not.

You were never threatened, liar.
And who said anything about her needing or wanting one?
Didn't you teach your own children to never PLAY with one, if they
found one laying around?
Damn! Yer children are dumber then you are!
In my own case, my first gun shooting was with a 22 rifle at about age 6 or
7. As I got a stronger grip, I was introduced to a revolver...probably
about age 10. My dad didn't lock up the guns. They were kept loaded in a
specific place, and I knew better than to ever touch one. Of course,
depending on the kid...YMMV.

if your gun is locked up(unloaded?),then you aren't going to be able to use
it to defend yourself.Particularly if you keep the ammo secured in another
location,as some folks recommend.

teaching your kids how to swim is considered "waterproofing" them, teaching

there's all sort of things kids need to be taught to make them safer.
There's no logical reason to exclude gun safety.

How do you plan on making people do that while respecting the
