MİLAS - Anatolia News Agency
Turkey and Greece have great opportunities for cooperation, according
to the chairman of a trade organization.
Panagiotis Koutsikos, Chairman of the Turkish-Greek Chamber of Trade,
said Saturday that his group has developed a project to boost tourism
activities between the two countries.
Koutsikos and an accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to
Enver Tuna, the chairman of the Milas Chamber of Trade and Industry,
on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters during the visit, Koutsikos said that his
chamber wants to promote cooperation between Turkish and Greek tour
operators.
“We have developed a project to promote tourism in Turkey and Greece,”
said Koutsikos. “If tourists stay a week in Turkey and a week in
Greece under the same program, this could boost tourism to our
countries.”
The chamber began implementing the project four years ago and it drew
1 million tourists last year, Koutsikos said. “The province of Muğla
has excellent beaches. Towns like Marmaris, Bodrum and Fethiye are
important centers for tourists,” he added. “The whole coast offers
beauties to foreign tourists.”
Many hotels in Greece buy products from Turkey. The organization will
bring together importers and exporters from the two countries and help
them grow their businesses, said Koutsikos, adding, “We have chosen
the province of Muğla in order to develop the aforementioned project.”
