Horses have served man for millenia but not the zebra. Even when someone
manages to domesticate one, it usually regresses to a wild state in short
order.

The African cape buffalo remains wild and dangerous while its Asian
cousins, the yak and the water buffalo have been successfully domesticated.
In fact, the water buffalo is more like a pet to the family that owns it.
It's very protective of the children also. Tell you one thing: experiences
in VietNam showed that it didn't like the "round-eye" American GI.

The Asian elephant has been used for centuries as a beast of burden, source
of transportation, source of amusement as in circuses and the like, and
even as athletes. As for the African elephant, forget it. Highly
intelligent but not about to become man's servant.
