A positive publicly communicable moral conception, which is derived from
our common erotic, mortal, and rational nature, respects the dignity of the
individual independently of socio-political considerations, and does not
appeal to the debasing ideology of compassion common to redemptive
religions, which stands in need of bribery by the promise of future reward,
fear of everlasting punishment, and the suffering of innocent victims for
its motivation.
