These people have no business pretending that they understand
what the average family must endure. I wish one of them would
just come out and say, "We're rich----and you're not." Ha! I
thought she was talking about being a stay-at-home mom to kids,
but she was referring to this horse (which probably has a slew
of nannies, too.)

mechanized agriculture, quality control of food & water,
sanitary sewer systems, planes/trains/buses/automobiles,
automatic heating & air, timely weather reports, radio/TV/

easy access to encyclopedic knowledge, tremendous variety of

packaging for all of the above, etc etc.

You probably did not mean to post this to TO.

I had 5 kids--I worked as a cook in a busy hotel kitchen,
came home smelling like fryer grease every night & had
to do most of the household chores with all the wonderful
conveniences provided to me by Mitt & Anne (not). From your
picture, I guess you spent your time playing professional
softball--just like a man!

It's hard to compare historical eras & say who had it better
or worse; the cultural theme of a fall from Paradise suggests
that some people were happier without the benefits of tech-
nology; the Luddites rather famously rioted against clocks
because workers were then expected to meet the demands of
those clocks. Spiritually (the source of those religious
concerns of Paradise) we live in a state of anomie earlier
generations needed no word for. In any event, while I am
currently enjoying the internet, I'm sure Mitt & Ann do too,
& with better tech support than I'll ever see. I like tech-
nology myself, but then I generally like life, & this is my
life; but I have a serious dislike for smug rich assholes.

What does this have to do with the subject matter of talk.origins?

Yeah, it would be better if our ancestors had just left that sinful
substance in the ground and stuck with burning trees and dried dung.
Actually, for the sake of the Mother Earth Goddess, it's too bad a
clever chimp-like ancestor that no one has ever observed 'volved to
become people. If I had a time machine, my first mission would be to
go back and kill that sinful proto-carbon-burning chimp before he
could 'volve enough to enable his ancestors to rape the Mother Earth
Goddess again and again with their evil carbon-burning machines. And
just think: if I killed that chimpesque ancestor, neither Hitler nor
Reagan would ever be born. Win-win! Plus, I could find out next
week's lottery numbers and retire on the winnings. Win-win-win!

Everything would be fine now if we had stopped suppressing
measles, flu, malaria & TB back in the '70s, when the population
bomb came to the forefront in the news. But noooooooooo,
y'all had to procrastinate & pass the buck. Well, it's pay now
or pay more later, and it'll always be that way...
