Subject: all your base are belong to us
Here's some weird trivia.

How many people have heard the saying "all your base are belong to us"
when describing an alien invasion?

You know where it comes from? The bible!

In the bible they have the trinity and the Holy Ghost. The trinity is
like a transistor with a BASE,EMMITTER and COLLECTOR.

I'm an artist so I'll use art to explain it. In movies the producer is
an EMMITER and a director is a COLLECTOR and above the producer is BASE.
Thats the trinity. Every human project requires the trinity even if you
are all three legs of the trinity such as a lone inventor. Even the moon
shot used the trinity.

Aliens know about the trinity thats why alien invasions say "All your
base are belong to us".

Pretty funny isn't it?

I just declassified an alien invasion! LOL!

Actually everything thats base is up for grabs. Even Hitler controlled
movies for propaganda so everything base in hollywood is up for grabs
and probably everything else thats base. Everything base will be
classified and stolen! LOL!

If you read Harry Turtledove's Earth Invasion novel (the lizards
invade during WWII), you'll see they completely bypassed vacuum tube
technology.  As a result, they were astonished when their sure-fire
civilization disabler - EMP from a nuke in the upper atmosphere -
didn't touch the Humans' electronics.

Actually, I've only heard it in games mods to Quake, Half-Life, etc,
like CTF, and TF.  And that was around 1989 when I first starting
hearing it.

Chapter and Verse please, IE, Delusions 5, Chapter 1, Verse 14.

Actually, I thought it was a Asian on a CTF team that beat the crap out
of the other team, taking over all there bases and simply typed to fast
or didn't understand the usage of English perfectly.

In the early days of the space race/cold war the designers of US
military rockets and missiles were very worried about the
susceptibility of the semiconductor  controls (discrete transistor
circuits and very early integrated circuits in those days) to space
radiation and especially to electromagnetic pulse.  The soviet
equivalents were free from such problems; their electronics
capabilities were so "obsolete" they were still using vacuum tube
technology.

Could be a UL, but: towards the latter part of the Cold War, the only
source of tubes for some of the older DEW-line radars was......the USSR.

I worked with tube circuits quite a bit during the "bad old
days" and I've never encountered this term. What's a
"double-ended triode"?

Russia is *still* the primary source for tubes, especially
high-power triodes for use by amateur radio types.

And IIRC, the MIG-25 the US took apart after the pilot
defected and landed in Japan had a *very* impressive
all-tube radar system.

Well, the 12AX7 was a very popular double triode.  Whether it is
double-ended or not is another matter.

I didn't get the reference (joke?) either.
