*Stomp*
I am big and scary,
*Stomp*
You should be afraid.
*Stomp*
I'm an airy faerie,
lost my cherry,
dark and hairy.
*Stomp*
You had best be wary.
*Stomp*
You may be dismay'd.
*Stomp*
Have a very merry
New Year,
or I'll have you flay'd!

<giggle>

love,
Elsie

in my tree
--
I'm not really big and hairy.
I was teasing.

in the good old days people had the common sense to be afraid of the Gentry.

You may notice a love / loathe ambivalence
among the peasants because, on the one hand,
don't they find it agreeable to have such
pretty color'd paper portraits (of Gentry)
crossing their palms after rend'ring service,
.. some mundane service such as, for example,
a routine flaying?
-- While on the other hand, it pays so dearly little
to have -been- flay'd oneself that, well ..
perhaps the experience were quite disagreeable,
I should think.

Squeaking squickly for myself, I neither flay nor pay.
Others happily compete to do it for me.
Isn't it -they- for whom one ought to have such regard,
these eager servants,
and not I?

i've never dealt with them, although i know a couple of people who believe they have. i could never understand the deal - what is there that we lumbering mortal sacks of dung could do for these etherial beings? get them twitter accounts?

and if playing tricks on the lumpen humans is supposed to teach them a lesson, either they aren't doing it often enough or it's not working. we need more elfin pranks!

I could play a trick on you by playing ad lib with you and elsie's
pronouns, which the two of you have laced across four posts like a
Boston street map.

This time we will get them all.

I tied a bunch of noisy tin cans under Frank's car,
but he discern'd who did it
and tied them back under one of mine.

O elfin pranks
won't work on Franks;
they know it's me
and send small thanks.

You can sing "*Stomp* I am big and scary" to the tune of "Help!" by The Beatles.
