Subject: [DECAADE] - University of Virginia Type 1 Diabetes Driving Study – STILL RECRUITING
Dr. Daniel Cox and colleagues at the University of Virginia are continuing to enroll drivers with type 1 diabetes into an NIH internet intervention study designed to potentially help adults avoid extreme BGs while driving, and hopefully avoid driving mishaps. Participants can earn up to $270. We are actively enrolling adults at high risk of having hypoglycemia while driving. Our goal is to enroll 180 more participants in this study by May of 2013. This study is done entirely over the internet requiring no clinic or doctor's visits; thus, anyone living in the US with internet access may go to www.diabetesdriving.com to find out more. Attached is an IRB stamped copy of the flyer advertising this study. We appreciate whatever help you can give in sharing this study with your patients and the community. In the end, we hope to have a confidential, efficient and effective means for drivers with type 1 diabetes to assess their risk of diabetes-related driving mishaps and then access an intervention from the privacy of their own home.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or comments. Thanks in advance for your help.
