Sr. Network Firewall Security Engineer
Irving TX
Duration:6+ Months
The project runs 3 to 4 months with a potential to go 9 months with the corporate
firewall project if he/she does a good job.
The Ideal candidate has active Cisco ASA experience planning, designing, deploying
and configuring Cisco ASA Firewall Infrastructure in a large corporate environment,
with experience on PCI firewall remediation, and working in a diverse matrixed
organization.
Responsibilities:
. As a part of the IT Risk Security & Compliance team designs, develops/ supports
and enforces Corporate Firewall/Network Security Policies and standards as well as
adherence to PCI standards.
. Participates and can lead capacity planning projects involving networking,
security, and assists with the design, implementation and maintenance of security
focused infrastructure . Firewall configuration, code upgrades, rule management,
performance analysis, rule analysis for customer submissions, design validation,
architectural recommendations, and break/fix troubleshooting . Firewall rule
validation and engineering, modification, and intrusion detection or prevention
(IDS/IPS) enforcement and controls . Ensures proprietary/confidential data and
enterprise systems are always protected . Will provide technical direction and
assistance to application areas as well as operations, coverage, and other technical
support areas . Position is required to establish daily security priorities around
managing the corporate network infrastructure and its ongoing operations . Research
and formally present cost effective solutions involving network and security needs,
and create, enforce and administer rules to prevent systems from intentional or
inadvertent access or destruction . Encourages constant proactive adherence to
effective security design and Firewall Industry best practice . Participates,
supports and ensures regular penetration testing and compliance certifications are
achieved through external and internal audit partnership
Qualifications
Experience:
. 5-8+ total years' experience in Network Administration, Routing, Switching and
various firewall analyzer and/or compliance tools.
. 5+ of those years working with Cisco networking hardware in large corporate
environments . 5+ Years Firewall Engineer Experience in Information / Network
Security / Intrusion Detection . 5+ Years' Experience Supporting, designing and
securing large national networks
Education:
. Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Engineering highly
desired.
. Appropriate equivalent experience is acceptable and may substitute for degree.
Skills:
. Self starter with project management skills to coordinate with Application Owners
in Access Control List design . Strong understanding of common network and
application protocols . Hands on experience on managing the Cisco ASA Firewall
platform . Thorough understanding of standard and proprietary routing protocols;
OPSF,BGP,HSRP,VLAN . Cisco ASA . Intrusion Detection/Prevention Service Modules .
Network Troubleshooting . Familiar with securing and supporting large MPLS WAN
designs . DMZ design, support and enforcement . Cisco switches and routers . CSM
Cisco firewall management software . Wireless networking and encryptions schemes .
Cisco firewall IOS . IPSEC VPN tunnel setup . Understands Wireless technologies and
networking; 802.11a/b/g/n and wireless encryption . Experience designing, planning
and implementing LANs/WANs using the latest Cisco technologies . Networking concepts
in a distributed systems architecture . Excellent verbal and written communication
skills . Ability to diagram and present complex solutions to all levels of
management . Strong analytical skills, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
abilities . Able to provide 24/7 support as needed; familiar with on-call
expectations and responsibilities . Ability to work in a very dynamic and fast paced
environment . Familiar with incident management systems and policy . Ability to work
as an individual or participate with application development teams to enforce secure
networking designs
