SymPy got 10 applications from 9 people. Unfortunately, this year the
competition was extremely tough, so only two applications were
selected --Saroj and Fredrik:

Congratulations!
Thanks Phillip, Rizgar, Goutham, Pan (2x), Abderrahim, Ashish and
Thomas for submitting your applications and for patches that some of
you wrote. All of your applications were high quality and each of you
have spent a lot of time writing them. I hope you learned something
new too in the process, see for example this announcement from hugin
(the ideas there apply to any project basically):

I have one bonus for you though: google has promised that if you
complete your project anyway (even though you weren't accepted), it
will send you a google t-shirt. :)
Of course, we'd like to have you around -- any contribution (be it
patches, bug reports, or just talk) is welcome.
Saroj and Fredrik -- please set up your blogs and when the GSoC
starts, please blog at least once a week (or more often:) about your
progress, so that anyone can easily follow your project.
Everything will be synchronized at:
and you can find some posts from the last year GSoC in there too, for
inspiration. As always, in case of any troubles (technical or social),
don't hesitate to ask me or any other sympy developer for help.
Looking forward to a productive summer,
Ondrej
