For those of you who don't know, Codefactory
(http://codefactory.es/en/) is the creator of mobile speak.
Mobile Speak is a screen reader software for mobile devices. With this
software, blind users can use
their phone that is based on Symbian, Palm, and Windows Mobile.

One of the user of their software in the Symbian platform told me that
Symbian bible can not be "read"
by mobile speak, because it uses graphical display. After
investigating more, it seems that currently
there is no Bible Reader software for Symbian platform that can be
read by Mobil Speak because
they use graphical display (this includes ebook readers such as Mobipocket)

In this last few weeks I have been working with Dave Mielke
(http://mielke.cc) to create a "textual" version
that can be read by Mobil Speak, so that it can be used by blind
users. Dave is a blind programmer,
and he helped me suggest many features and test the versions i sent
him (we exchange more than 80 emails
to create this version).

I have uploaded the files in the files section of the symbian bible
group, and also in:

If you are blind, or know someone who does, may be this version can be
tested before fully released.

I hope this version is useful, because bringing a braille Bible is  a
bit impossible to do for a blind person
(because it is huge, for the KJV version, it is divided into 17
volumes, each about 6 cm thick, 30 cm width,
30 cm height). I imagine that Audio bible can be used, but it is
difficult to seek to particular chapter or verse.
So i think usually  blind people will need a special device to carry
bible around (I saw some special hardwares
in the Internet).

I have not done many research on Windows  Mobile and Palm, probably
there is already a bible for those
platforms that can be used by the blind. I hope this version can fill
the gap in the Symbian world.

As for the graphical version, I have made some minor adjustment, but I
will do some more testing before
uploading symbianbible 0.99.
