Sewing, maybe.

Overlockers are 4 times the trouble a sewing machine is...

for $35 it's still probably worth it, but in a community environment, the poor thing doesn't stand a chance...

I've done a lot of sewing in the past (costumes for medieval reenactment) and while fiddly, overlockers  can be extraordinarily useful.

(Not for myself mind, my heavy sewing days stopped when I went for Roman as opposed to Tudor).
