But but but wouldn't you have to buy Dowell to fit in that Dowell maker?
I mean yes you could buy just one large diameter Dowell and then make smaller ones as needed but it doesn't seem to solve a problem anyone has...
Still I can see a small one of those being a great pencil sharpener :-)

if you watch from the start, the dowel he 'sharpens' is actually a rough octagon (he cuts a square from a beam then planes the corners).

Later he whittles a boat from a bigger boat...

So much effort!
I built my daughter her cot. With wood from the sawmill on buffalo road.
It took me 11 months every weekend and a tafe course.
I dread to think how long it would have taken me if I was making the dowel myself.
Happy with the result, but as a first wood working project, it wasn't the best idea.
