Hi all,

a couple of you may know about my little project to generate a massive 3d model library of usefull parts
that can either be printed or lasercut or cnc milled/turned for those who don't know the idea behind this is
to pre generate the models as opposed to generating them when needed the primary reason not to is the
insane amounts of time it takes some of the more complex models

(I've got open scad scripts here that take the better half of a few hours to finish processing)

so far in the library there is over 2237 models taking up over 1.2 gig of space
consisting of
tool-plate
herringbone gears
t5 t2.5 timing pulleys

and to be generated :

printable washers
printable springs
bearing holders centered on nema frames

I'm looking to add to this list , has anyone got any openscad scripts/models that might fall into the realm of "usefull for building stuff"?
if anyone wants a copy of the library or the openscad scripts i can zip them up and email to whoever wants them,

cheers chris bate

hey chris,

definitely interested, though not really keen in downloading a 1.2Gb attachment in my email :)

maybe put them onto this new google drive thing? or if you burn it onto dvd and leave it at the space then anyone can use?

a bitbucket repository might be better as then you get version control
as well as being multi-user.

Sounds like the source code should be on GitHub. You could use Travis and some cunning scripts to render the STLs using transient EC2 images. Want a hand with that? I'm pretty good with Puppet…

Snap! Community's mainly on GitHub, but the principle is the same: put up your code, other people contribute, you merge it in. If you get big, you give trusted people commit rights so they can help herd the contributions.
