Server: Running 9.0.2.3687
Clients are all running the same version
Clients environment is Citrix Metaframe 4

The db server is a dual Xeon 3.6 with 6 GB of RAM
running Windows Server 2003 R2 X64 Service Pack 2.

The Citrix servers are all running as Virtual Machines under VMWare ESX
with Single Processors and 3 gig of RAM. All are running Windows 2000 Server
Service Pack 4.

We've been running under Citrix for approximately 10 years and We've been
using
VMWare for about 3-4 years.

Server startup parameters
-n fa
d:\fa2000\db\fa2.db
-cl 1G
-ch 3G
-ti 60

A few times per day we will get a call from a user who is getting a message
via the application
File DBA.xxxx could not be opened, Error: Connection was terminated (08S01),
Press ok to end this application. This will normally happen after 10 to 15
minutes of no activity on this connection. The Citrix time out is set for 60
minutes of no activity per user session, the application is set to do a
clean close down at 58 minutes of no activity.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to try and follow up and fix this issue?

Best Regards

Start the engine with the -z -o <filespec> and add LOG=<client_filespec>
to the client connection string (also configurable in the ODBC DSN on
the advanced tab). These will provide communications diagnostics to help
identify the issue. With this logs enable, run your application as
normal and once you have a failure review the logs.

NOTE: if you are using TDS based connectivity such as openclient or
jConnect, the server -z option will capture significant debug info. If
that is the case, please monitor to see impact on performance/file size.
