hope this helps everyone as only ASE 15.0.2 esd 4 has the GLIBC fix that I've
been able to determine.

Note that the problem that Jason's post refers to is NOT present in
the 64 bit versions of ASE (at least for 15.0.x) - so you don't need
to do anything in particular to get it to work.

The problem that Jason refers to doesn't apply to 64bit versions of ASE.

What do you mean by "it did not help"?
I've installed ASE 15.0.2 ESD 4/5 on x86_64 (recent distros) with no
problems, so if you are having problems installing it please post details!
Thanks,
It applied to the 64bit backupserver (the 32bit backup server worked).
I can confirm the problem is fixed ...
the blog post is really for 12.5x and those people on v15 that don't
have a support contract.

Is the 1502 ESD #6 addressed the backupserver seg fault yet in Ubuntu
8.04 w/o chroot?
Or 32-bit backup server works fine in 64-bit 8.04, is it true?
Thanks
Correct. The 64bit backupserver hasn't been fixed to work with the
newer GLIBC yet. Last I heard, it should be fixed in 15.0.3 ESD 1.
The 32bit backupserver works fine with a 64bit install of ASE.
The chroot environment is really more for ASE 12.5.x these days.

I am aware 8.04 (TLS) seems fine with ASA according to Sybase web site.
Anyone out there tries with 8.10?
Hard to decide should I downgrade or not.
