We are considering rolling out Switchpipe in our multi-app production
environment which is running Solaris 10, and I noticed Switchpipe is
"for Linux and OS X only so far." Is this due to Switchpipe being
untested under Solaris, or are there known issues with Solaris?

SwitchPipe is untested under Solaris but, in theory, should work as
SwitchPipe generally relies on POSIX functionality.

I have been trying to find a nice VMWare appliance for Solaris
recently and perhaps should look again to give it a go :)
Alternatively, if you get it working, post again here.

I got Switchpipe to serve up the webrick_thing demo app on a fairly
fresh Solaris VM I have running under Parallels. Are there any other
tests you would like to see done under Solaris?

I'd be interested to know if you get it working with a Rails
application, if that's in your plans. That said, however, knowing that
it works at all on Solaris is certainly great, so thanks!

Cheers,

This morning I was able to get one of our rails apps served up by
mongrel via SwitchPipe, so I'd say it's pretty safe to say that
SwitchPipe works under Solaris. It may be a bit before I can get my
architecture changed over, but it looks like I'll be deploying
SwitchPipe in production.
