Hi,

Has anyone got advice on installing Swift nestboxes or creating holes in a soffit board for Grade 2 listed buildings?

Have you run into any problems?

Any specific things you have had to do or not been allowed to do?

thanks,

Mark

my experience in my Grade 2 listed house was that my council advised that a Swift Brick or box is not deemed material to reqire specific approval, but they emphasised they retained their right to object.  So they advised discretion in deciding where to locate the bricks.

To date I have had no issues.

Hello – I work for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority (also the Planning Authority), so have opportunities to chat to the Planning Ecologist regularly. She has ensured the inclusion of swift boxes on a number of listed buildings now in Brecon, which is itself a Conservation Area. As ever, personal relationships and dialogue are invaluable – as is knowing exactly who to talk to of course.
