European Protection for Swifts

Hi all,

I have read in Hannah's book that swifts nest sites are protected all year in many countries in the EU. Can someone tell me which countries these are. Wouldn't it be great if we could legislate for this in the UK. 

Of course I know they are protected when they are actively nesting.
