Swift re-boot Beta: Coming soon

The community beta is first. We'll post here, to our newsletter lists and the blog so that you know how to get an account to test away.

We know that you have been entirely patient while we reboot. The code will be open source and we will be sure to open up the next stages for more community input.

Really delighted to see this work coming on - congratulations Heather on such progress. The UI looks really terrific, very much looking forward to playing with it.

By way of mention, we will be testing out the participatory reporting platform we've been working on for the past few months at Meedan - this with Al-Masry Al-Youm in Egypt: http://www.liveblog.almasryalyoum.com/en/reports.   Tomorrow is the second leg of Egypt's marathon parliamentary elections, so we'll be trying to gather, markup, cross-reference and narrate citizen produced reports from Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and elsewhere.  

Tomorrow will be in English, but ultimately we are focused on Arabic.  Feel free to join the fun - @Tom_El_Rumi is our point person on Twitter.

Thanks! So the first beta will be a server account? Or will it be a

I'll second what George and Ed have said, the new platform, direction, and code look great!  Kudos! 

Heather, any thoughts on what will occur with the now depreciated Swift codebase?  There's quite a bit still out there still in use, and quite a few people who were fans of the individual machine learning components versus the platform.  

If Ushahidi has no plans to keep that code in production, as supporters of that community we're happy to keep it all alive.

Yeah, same question here.. I read that as it's hosted as a Beta first.

I have just been hired by UNICEF to work on their "Social Media in Emergencies" guidelines. From what little I have heard of Swftriver it could be an interesting tool for the organization in emergencies. Is there a way I could get access to the beta?

Ditto here. I a viable version of Sweeper could really jump start
Nepalmonitor.org once I get back in county, so I would love to test
it, even as a demonstration I could show partners.
