If I understand what you want correctly, this should already be possible in a much easier way.
I think what you want is to set "noscale" (google it) but still make your SWF stretch the entire width (and height) of the browser window... See the FAQ #1 about 100%.

Are you trying to get the value of document.body.clientWidth before the DOM
has finished loading? I believe you need to wait until the document is
loaded... if the script runs in the <head> before the DOM is ready, it means
the <body> doesn't even exist yet, so there's no way to get its dimensions.

If all you're trying to do with the cookie code is track number of visits, I
think your code is too complex. Try using a simpler system such as
PPK's<[link]>

I didn't say it doesn't work... I know it works on its own. I said you need
to change *how* it works -- you can't pass a null value to the FlashVars
object. See the sample code in previous emails.

I understand what you are saying. But this cookie syntax is correct.
It works perfectly on its own. The only time it doesnt work is with
swfObject embed. Thats been the problem from the start. The code Ive
pasted below is the extact code I have been using all along except it
uses a conditional statement and document.write rather than attempting

Could you post up a link to your page (if if this is not possible, a more
complete code listing) ?
The doctype should not be what is causing the syntax error. Most likely it
is something like swfobject.js not being found etc.

As Kyle said, thanks for posting your findings for others.
I am unsure why you would need to define a 2nd wmode param though in this
instance. You need to define your params twice if you are using static
embed, but not if you are using dynamic as you are.
After you have called embedSWF(), nothing will reference your params object
