Dear friends,
I am working on sweetpotato breeding. I need your assistance in getting soft ware for phenotypic characterization of the varieties that I have. I also need tutorials to use it .

Greetings Mike,
I am sure you have the descriptor for sweetpotato. That is the best thing to use for phenotypic characterisation. No software will do that work for you. Molecular characterisation is also used to differentiate clones.

Hi Mike, Are you looking for a software to use after using the descriptor? I think if you use the descriptor Ijeoma referred to you can then do clustering and other analysis with a software. A software for this is known as R http://www.r-project.org/ from the Universityof Auckland. Itis freeware with contribution from more that 20 scientists aroundthe world. Regards

Thanks for that contribution Cecil. I actually used the R software to do cluster and principal component analyses, after collecting data on about 50 different phenotypic characteristics. It was extremely useful.
