Presenting: Tangled Up in Blue... a Sweetcron theme developed from the
Boxdaddy I released last year. It's the theme I have developed to
build my own site.
Like Boxdaddy, it's based on YongFook's classic Boxy theme, has been
tested on Sweetcron 1.08e and has:
- Tabbed navigation for single source activity pages
- 'Link/blog/video/photo/audio' labels for items
- A blog only RSS link
I've made some additional changes:
* A much better front end look (or so I think!)
* A blog display area at the top of the homepage (teh blog ar
(not) dead - http://mawsh.com/labs/tehblogarnotdead/)
* Items like news shares and links go straight to original source
* Players for both Blip.fm and Last.fm
* Twitter lives in the sidebar now - it's just way too noisy for
Sweetcron!
* A friendfeed page
* Disqus integration (just add your username to files)
I love the look of this theme but it appears the CSS isn't loading.
I've edited main.css to change 'yourdomain_com' to 'martinbryant_net'
as instructed but something's wrong. You cab see how it looks at
www.martinbryant.net
Any ideas? This is my first time dealing with Sweetcron themes.
Martin.

Ouch... css borked. Difficult to tell - probably a comma or something
equally inconsequential in the wrong place or summat.
Try importing the original main.css into textpad or similar, running
find/replace and retrying?

Tom - I've already tried that to no avail. Going to have another
tinker now.
Wan - I see what you mean - it doesn't show up when you look at the
directory in a browser but it *is* in that folder when I look via FTP
and Sweetcron let's me select it as a theme.

I deleted the theme and tried again - it works perfectly this time! I
think it's because I extracted the folder on my computer before
uploading the first time, meaning a couple of folders were in the
wrong place.
I've modified it to remove Delicious and Digg and add Vimeo and Qik -
I would add 12seconds but from looking around it appears there are
problems with adding that service a present. One final thing - how do
I add my own blogs? I can't find the code for adding my own Feedburner
feeds anywhere...
Thanks for a brilliant theme!

Looking good - nice work!
Noted for future problems with getting the theme running...
make sure your theme folders are at the right level within your file
structure!
When you say 'how do I add my own blogs", do you mean a blog on
another site, like a wordpress site? Or from within the Sweetcron app?
For feedburner:
I just burned the feeds, grabbed the new feed URLS and entered this
into the <head> in _header.org
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="All items RSS
Feed" href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/YOUR FULL FEED ID" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Blog only RSS
Feed" href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/YOUR BLOG FEED ID" />
Then put the links into the navigation, behind the RSS icon/Full-Blog
list items. i.e.

Thanks Tom! I followed your instructions above and that's worked fine
for the header but the entries from my blogs in the box grid appear as
follows:
---------
The Boxy theme does not have a custom style for this type of item.
You can create one by editing the _activity_feed.php and main.css
files.
Please read the Theme Docs and API for more information.
---------
See Page Three on my site to see what I mean. I assume I need to add
something in _activity_feed.php but I've tried adding conditions for
what should be displayed for items from feedburner.com and that
doesn't work.
Martin.

OK, so you're pulling in items from your blog via feedburner.
This means that when an item comes into the activity feed, there is no
loop code for displaying an item from feedburner.
You'll need to add an elseif code block and customise it for how you
want your blog to display.
Try starting by copying the code for the "from sweetcron itself"
block, and change the domain, so when the item arrives, there's
something to handle it.
Then create your display within the CSS - you'll need to set up a
background and font characteristics.
Hope that makes sense...

Hi, thanks Tom - I worked it out in the end. I've not finished
tweaking everything yet but I'm pretty happy with what's at www.martinbryant.net now.
Thanks for your help!
Martin.

I can't figure out where to set up the blog box at the top of the
page, but other than that my site is up and running with tweaks at

I'm *very* happy with how this looks in Firefox but can anyone help me
with how it looks in IE? There's objects all over the place! I'm no
CSS wizz and this is quite daunting.

Sorry for the extra post but I've stuck in a temporary HTML page while
I try to fix the problem so your browser will default to it. You can
still find the Sweetcron version at www.martinbryant.net/index.php Any help greatly appreciated! :)
Martin.

great theme Tom, thanks for sharing! sorry if this is a real noob
question..
i've added a tumblr feed to my site, created a custom set of bg images
for this type of post - I can't see anything obvious in the css that
relates to bg images for each feed...
I see the conditional code: <li class="item <?php echo $item-
Run a search on this phrase in the css:
ul#activity_list li.item.delicious_com div.item_inner {
You'll find the background for delicious - use that to create a new
one for tumblr_com
Hope that helps

Hi Tom - thanks for the great theme! One question: is the last.fm/mp3
plugin supposed to work with the theme? I saw the code was already
embedded so I just downloaded and installed the audio-player plugin
but nothing much happened. Any ideas about that one?

I'm finding some weird box placement in Google Chrome. On my site
(and another), I see a row of three boxes, then a row with one box in
the middle, then it is ok below that. It's happening on these two
sites, but not on TomBeardshaw.com
There's definitely some issues with IE and Chrome...
Am working on this and I'll update as soon as I can.
BTW - rounded corners are in CSS3, so visible only in Firefox 3 &
Safari.

That's great to hear. I don't care about the rounded corners (they're
nice, but not crucial), but some of the larger formatting issues need
to be addressed.
Thanks for working on this!

OK - I have now gone right through the theme fixing it for other
browsers.
Please refer to the original post for the link to download the stable
version.
Please give it a whirl, and let me know if there are any problems.

Hello Michael and everyone else
I have been working on your Tangled Up in Blue theme for my Sweetcron
installation. Thanks for taking the time to make this public.
I added a site, Tumblr and a personal blog and things were looking
good, I still have to get backgrounds for those.
Today I suddenly lost the Flickr photo backgrounds. My Flickr square
and the corresponding links are there but I no longer see the photo.
I am at a loss and can't figure out what happened. Can you maybe
point
me in the right direction?

Thank you

I was able to regain the lost photos by replacing the Main.css file
with the original. Sorry to take away from your busy lives.
Thanks again for the cool theme!
