On Donahe Drive (next to Hamilton Avenue) the signal strengths have
dropped
dramatically since the upgrade from about 50% to less than 5% or no
"SVU PublicWiFi" signal at all.

The public wifi has become essentially useless here.

What happened?

There are also too many SSID's with "2WIRE" followed by three numbers.

Hi,

The upgrade, as explained here: www.svunwired.org/?p=upgrade was
for the backhaul network (the "second" or parallel network that feeds
the neighborhoods with a highspeed point to multipoint system. The
changes would not have affected the "primary" or access network which
all of you connect to. Thus, the signal strength was not affected by
the upgrade.

I did go and check the nodes in this neighborhood and found that a few
of them did have a portion of their signal strength dialed back -- not
really sure why it would be set this way, so I increased the signal
strength.

Can you let us know if this config change made any difference ??

Thanks.

Mr. Halbrook,

RE: "Can you let us know if this config change made any
difference ??"

Yes and no.

Yes --- because now I can connect to the Internet to check my emails.
Thanks.

No --- because it is not as good/fast as before the upgrade. But, if
it stays this way, we would still be thankful because it
is free and we are retired, no longer contributing taxes.
