FAMILY COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES (FCSS) – OPEN HOUSE A FCCS Coordinator (Sharon James-Lock) will be working in the Village Office on a part time basis. Family Community Support Services play a vital role in our communities, supporting seniors and allowing them the quality of life to remain in their homes. You are invited to attend a FCSS open house on November 5, 2009, at the Ma-Me-O Beach community hall from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The Regional Wastewater Planning Committee The Regional Wastewater Planning Committee includes a member of the Norris Beach Council and continues to make progress towards the development of a regional wastewater collection system for the south side of Pigeon Lake. Associated Engineering is presently conducting preliminary engineering for the transmission system. Associated Engineering will be presenting a draft of the preliminary design to the Committee for review on November 29, 2009. Once approved by the Committee, the preliminary design will be presented to Alberta Transportation for review and additional grant approval. After grant approval the Committee will be moving into detailed design which will utilize a phased in approach as grant money is approved and available.
The formulation of a South Side Sewer Commission is moving ahead.
BOAT LIFTS AND PIERS Thanks to the residents that have placed their lot number on their boat lifts and piers that are stored on the municipal reserves.
PAVING Adding a lift of pavement to reinforce and improve our streets has not occurred as planned due to weather constraints. If the weather continues to be uncooperative the work will be completed in the spring of 2010.
WINTER ROAD CLEARING After a bid review, the contract for road clearing has again been awarded to Brian Resta.
TREE MAINTENANCE The winter tree maintenance program will be continued and will remove dead fall and fire hazards from municipal property such as the public reserves. We encourage our residents to do the same – and to trim private trees that are growing into the public reserves and walkways.
