Dear all,
Greetings from QUEST Alliance!* *
QUEST Alliance is a partnership of public, private and non-governmental oganizations (NGOs) across India. It provides a vehicle for businesses, donors, non-governmental organizations and governments to optimize their collective resources around a social commitment to improve education and employability among disadvantaged youth in India. QUEST promotes the effective, responsible use of educational technologies in order to enhance
the quality and relevance of formal elementary education and employability training for disadvantaged children and youth.
Corporate - Community engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR) as focus areas are gaining increasing importance. Government, Industry associations and civil society are realising the much needed presence of and vital role corporations can play in impacting community related issues and aid in community development programs. Information & Communication Technology companies have been at the forefront, with dynamic leadership and
younger, more aware employees these companies have spawned a range of programs, projects and initiatives which are positively impacting the community in which they operate.
Companies in this sector have taken up volunteering activities, pay roll
giving, fundraising campaigns, adopted schools and invested in
infrastructure for the disadvantaged and under served in their community. This is extremely laudable and has set the trend for others to follow. However, there are a select few within this group who are transforming the mode of contributing back to the community. A few companies in India and in other parts of the world are examining their core competencies and developing solutions that use these competencies to serve their communities better. This has resulted in high impact interventions and positive results across the board. These interventions include leveraging technologies like mobile telephony, the Internet, radio, audio/video tools and computer - aided learning to enhance learning and development for the under served.
Keeping in mind this background, The
