Dear Friends,
Today's Monterey Herald includes a guest editorial I wrote on MST/Whispering Oaks (attached). Please take a moment to read it--I hope it will inspire you to send a communication of your own.
Our message is simple and steady: Whispering Oaks is the wrong location. Rescind the rezoning and rescind the EIR. Leave this critical open space as is.
Help deliver this message to the supervisors and MST directors today. Your email can be as short as a sentence. Say what you're asking for and why it matters to you. Send no later than Friday, February 10th, so the MST directors will receive before their board meeting on Monday, February 13th. Emails: c...@co.monterey.ca.us, M...@mst.org.
Also, please fire a brief letter to the Salinas Californian, Monterey County Weekly, or Herald this week, while there's still lead time for publication.

Monterey Herald: mhed...@montereyherald.com
Monterey County Weekly: let...@mcweekly.com
Tens of thousands of citizens from Monterey County and beyond adamantly oppose this project at this location. Speak out for yourself and on behalf of your neighbors. Defend the essential Sgt Allan MacDonald Cavalry Trail and the beach-to-BLM warhorse history/recreation corridor. Stand for wildlife, beauty, and good and grateful use of our Fort Ord heritage.
REMINDER: the supervisors are scheduled to vote on rescinding the EIR and rezoning on Tuesday, February 14th at 1:30pm, 168 W Alisal Street, Salinas (corner of Capitol). See you there!
Yours,
