I had a chance to see/hear the Cirque du Soleil Love performance at
the Mirage in Las Vegas. I was so overwhelmed I went back a second
time on another trip to Vegas. The amphitheater that was created
solely for the Love performances is the ultimate in surround sound.
Every seat back contains a set of speakers so that when you are
hearing the music, you are literally surrounded by thousands of
speakers. While speakers placed in seatbacks may not at first seem to
represent high fidelity (I was at first thinking old movie drive-in
type of speakers when I was imagining it), the resulting soundscape is
nothing short of amazing. Of course, the performance of the Cirque du
Soleil that was created for the music is also a treat.

If you haven't seen it, there is a documentary "All Together Now" that
describes the creation of the Love show and has Paul & Ringo, Yoko and
George and Giles Martin in it. One of the features of the documentary
is how they created the surround system in the theatre and also the
decisions that went into reworking the Beatles recordings for surround
sound. Highly recommended for Beatles fans.

If you are ever in Las Vegas, do yourself a favor and go to the Mirage
(get tickets well in advance) and see the show.

I tried to find this documentary, but had no luck! And no one even cares do rip a documentary as a torrent because it's not so popular as a blockbuster movie.

I'm a big fan of Beatles and Love is a marvelous work that I would like to see the creation.

I was in Best Buy this past Sunday, and they had this documentary new
on DVD for just $4.99. I watched all the bonus features first, and I
must say, what an incredible undertaking to mount this production in
Vegas night after night. Perhaps someday, I'll get a chance to witness
this spectacle live.

If you get a chance to see it, I promise it will be an experience you
will never forget. I've been to musicals at Broadway and West End, and
more concerts than I can remember, and IMHO there is nothing that
compares to the Love show. It has a fantastic performance by the
Cirque that's more story-telling than their usual circus acrobatics.
Oh, and it has Beatles music in the ultimate surround sound
experience.

Just an FYI... Documentaries are huge on torrent sites.  They are released by MVGroup and their torrents are also carried by that pirate site, eztv, isohunt, bt-chat etc.  That said, I first got it from the noid... where I also got the most recent George Martin documentary.  Wouldn't mind an eventual Blu release of the show, complete with docu.   Certainly only a matter of time...

I don't think there will be a bad seat in the house as far as watching
the show. However, if you are in the back rows, I'm not sure if you
would get the same surround sound experience as if you are down lower.
With something like 6000 speakers in the theater, you are literally
surrounded. I think you'd want to be at least a few rows down into
the theater to experience the sound at its best.

The first time I saw it, I was in the mid-price seats about half-way
down and it was great. I was with my family so it was not cheap but
still well worth it. The second time, I treated myself since I was
alone on a business trip, and I bought the best seat I could buy. It
was in the second row and probably the most expensive. The surround
sound experience was no different, but it seemed I was practically on
top of the performers. If I were to go again, the mid-level seats
would be perfectly fine and you can see not only the performance very
well but also the large video screens above the performers.
