Getting content of some DVD-A's

Hi,

I have 2 of the Lord Of The Rings Complete Score DVD-As that were released in 2005, which I am considering selling. I understand that you can't copy or rip a DVD-A like you can a CD, but as I have an Oppo BDP-103, and multitrack recording software (where I could record 6 audio channels), is this the only way I could 'rip' my disc, i.e. by recording the outputs of the Oppo in real time into my computer? I have loads of disc space, and use a Mac.

On my Mac I just use foobar2000 in a winebottler wrapper. The Foobar2000 program with the added dvd-a component can easily rip to something else like flac.

Thank you. It begs the question, which disc player do you use? I have a Pioneer Bluray writer but that (unsurprisingly) read DVD-As.

But ya can (copy or rip a DVD-A like you can a CD).

Very easily these days.  Legally too e.g. with DVD Audio Extractor

 

Duplicating, then selling the original: that is still a gray area though......

use DVD Audio Explorer to get your tracks to MCH or 2.0 WAV then you can build an AVCHD with LPCM with blank video or static background per track using Audiomuxer. burn AVCHD disc - BDMV and Certificate folders to DVD disc and play in your Oppo 103

No problem. Used to do this then it got easier just streaming 5.1 files from NAS to Oppo 203 or 2.0 files direct to Marantz SR7012.

I have been using mp3tag from within Wine to make sure all my music files are correctly named; it sounds like Foobar2000 is the way to go for me. That or DVD Fab.

I'm having difficulty with installing and running Foobar2000 inside of Wine. I can choose the that I downloaded (foobar2000_v1.6.1.exe) in the 'Advanced' tab of the Winebottler app, but I can't get anything more to happen...

Whereabouts is the proper place to install Foobar? Obviously, I don't have a C drive. I am installing Foobar now, and choose the default location of my Downloads folder. In an install attempt yesterday, I think I unwittingly managed to install it onto a USB thumb drive; I presume neither of these locations is the best.

Then what? If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be really grateful!

As it seems to be that on a Mac it's a process fraught with difficulty and obstacles, do you think that buying a cheap-ish Windows laptop and an external drive would be an answer to me ripping my DVD-As and SACDs for use on my NAS? I'd then be able to finally make more available on the Hub. Any recommendations and/or minimum specs? Thanks!
