Hello Grill!
I'm too from Hungary...
Can you contact me in private?

The only quad release by an Aussie-based artist was Smoke Dreams by
the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band - and even then it was only the US
release that was Quad.

(I'm told there was an Aussie-born organist who released Quad stuff in
the UK).

Not aware of any modern multi-channel Aus releases.

I live in the US, but if I was from the UK, this would be easy. I'd
pick from any of the early 70's prog rock titles, like A.P.'s mix of
DSOTM, Yes' Fragile, ELP's Brain Salad Surgery and any Genesis, Jethro
Tull or Mike Oldfield. At any rate, it's hard to pick just one. My
favorites here in the States would be Flaming Lips' Yoshimi..., Billy
Cobham's Spectrum, Beck's Sea Change, Pat Metheny's Imaginary Day,
Joni Mithchell's Hissing of..., Herbie Hancock's Sextant, Chicago's
1st, Steely Dan's Countdown..., Santana's Lotus or perhaps Miles
Davis' Bitches Brew.
This was harder than I thought it'd be Grill....couldn't pick just
one. Well actually, I think Zappa's Quaudiophiliac might be it!

Countdown? Did I miss something. That os only available as a quad LP. Of there has been a new release someone clue me in!

Since Grill stated as the topic, "surround music", I figured the
original Quad era from the early 70's was fair game too. So, I had
listed a few from that era, including Countdown. Sorry, it has not
been re-mixed in surround for today's formats. Although, I think most
of Steely Dan's 70's output, post Pretzel Logic, would be awesome if
they did, e.g., Katy Lied and Royal Scam! I think Aja is the only one
that doesn't have all the complete multi-track masters intact.

Agreed with all. I like and appreciate any well-done surround music
from quad to recent new releases. Unfortunately almost none of
Hungarian bands could produce quad albums. An important exception is
Omega and also in here I have to say many thanks to Oxforddickie for
his great conversion efforts on Omega albums, too.

Djabe - Sheafs are Dancing is a good one. I guess being from the USA
I'd go with Beck's "Sea Change" or The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi" as best
in surround.

Agree with "Sea Change" and "Yoshimi". But Foo Fighters "In Your
Honor" is worth a listen, as well as the new Trent Reznor "Social
Network" soundtrack released as BDA which I transcoded into DVDA (NOT
your typical synth squawking ultra-violent Reznor stuff BTW, this is
much more ambient).

Btw, Ákos (Akosh) is the only Hungarian pop-singer I'm aware of who
cares for surround. He's also a poet and his lyrics go beyond "i-love-
you-why-don't-you-love-me" level. He writes songs in English, too.
Afaik two studio albums of his have been released in surround (DVD-
video). I will put one of them into my Hub share soon. Great stuff for
those who learn Hungarian language and love surround music :-)
