While this first message is primarily a test to see if the aggregated
feeds connected to this this Google Group and at Livejournal are
working correctly, I might as well take this opportunity to give an
explanation and introduction to the radio show Supplemental.
Supplemental is an experiment in self produced radio and an avenue for
applied practice for future projects which explores the emerging
technologies present in grassroots media via the internet.
Featuring a by-the-seat-of-the-pants style of live production by small
groups of people telling autobiographical recollections from their
past interspersed between music. This show is aired via the University
of Cincinnati's internet radio station Bearcast
(http:/bearcast.uc.edu), and podcasted / aggregated via feed sites
using RSS/Atom syndication technology.
Supplemental is basically taking the best selected tellings of the all
those funny stories and commentary we hear from our friends and
publish them online as a streaming/on demand radio show. This project
was inspired by the self publishing movement in the form of web comics
like HomestarRunner (www.homestarrunner.com), Penny Arcade
(www.penny-arcade.com), Something Positive
(www.somethingpositive.net), Sluggy Freelance (www.sluggy.com),
Megatokyo (www.megatokyo.com), and Red vs. Blue (www.redvsblue.com).
Content created for Supplemental partakes in movements in the area of
intellectual property. Thus, Supplemental's content to will use

The Google Group, Supplemental is primarily a public avenue for
listeners and people interested in the project to get information and
to talk to others about the show.
