As mentioned previously, this version contains many behind the scenes
changes (including a revamping of the combat code) to allow for more
flexibility in the future. Many of these changes haven't been turned
into actual features yet, but you'll see them show up in future
versions. One example of a major coding change that does show up this
version is the food freshness system. Food will now spoil over time,
so don't hoard all your food for too long! The other major features
of this version include a new race, a spell-system, and the start of
implementing the wizard class (which still has a ways to go).

The next version of Subterrane will contain a HUGE number of very
visible changes, as I am planning to revamp both the attribute system
mechanics and combat system mechanics!

As always, you can download the files from http://www.geocities.com/aapomeranz
. However, you can now also get them here in the files section!

|-- Version 0.137 03/07/07
--------------------------------------------|
* Add: Added a high elf race.
* Add: Added a wizard class (only partially implemented currently).
* Add: Added the spells earthen dart, air shield, ice bolt, and fire
bolt.
* Add: Food now has a freshness value and will eventually rot. Eating
rotten food currently has no detrimental effects, but this will
change
in a future version.
* Add: Corpses now decay. Food created from decaying corpses will be
of
lower freshness than food created from fresh corpses.
* Add: Eating rotten food will now make you sick.
* Add: Added some flavor text for specific foods.
* Add: Items can now be added to creature's processing queues in order
to
handle periodic effects of those items.

* Mod: Monsters now have a variable amount of meat on them based on
race and
weight.
* Mod: Some monster types no longer drop corpses.
* Mod: The skinning skill has been renamed dressing, as it encompasses
more
than just the skinning process.
* Mod: Your success at preparing a corpse into food is dependent on
your
dressing skill. Preparing a corpse exercises your dressing skill.
* Mod: Non-thrown ranged attacks can not be parried.
* Mod: Spells are now separated from Abilities in the game's
interface.
* Mod: Flipped the order of the specialty selection and stat selection
screens.
* Mod: You can no longer use Escape to go back after you reach the
stat
selection screen. This is both to prevent scumming for good stats
and for technical reasons.
* Mod: Reduced many race based skill bonus/penalties. Class should
have a
larger effect on bonuses/penalties than race.

* Fix: Fixed a bug where modifications to attributes via effects was
not
being calculated properly in some cases.
* Fix: Fixed a problem with the status display not updating after a
monster's
special attacks (eg. a floater's energy drain attack).
* Fix: Fixed a bug where the slam ability was causing creatures to
speed up,
not slow down.
* Fix: Fixed a bug where you could increase your stats by repeatedly
entering
and leaving the character creation stat selection screen.
* Fix: Fixed some bugs in the stat set generator.
* Fix: Fixed a bug in the word wrap code that caused it to wrap some
lines
incorrectly.
* Fix: Made the combat message when throwing ammo read better and have
more
flavor.
* Fix: Fixed a bug where the scroll buffer was reporting the wrong
number of
lines.
