Hi,

is it possible to use a normal window instead of Prototype windows? My question because in my system Prototype windows are not very usable, I suppose that a normal window will perform better.
Thanks.

Thats a very good question.

I think my users would prefer popups too.

Is there anyway we can do that?

Thanks

+1, though I think it looks good with fading, I don't see the gain in
usability from regular popups... it's a bit slow and clients are used
to regular pops

Yes, right now Streamlined uses the Prototype windows exclusively.
We're in the middle of adding support for the following four
alternates:

1) Lightbox windows
2) Hidden divs (a la AjaxScaffold)
3) Non-ajax popup windows
4) regular page transistions (Web 1.0-style)

We want to make the first three (plus the existing Prototype Windows
version) hidden under the same API, while the fourth would be a major
declarative change. Something like:

class MyModelUI < StreamlinedUI
edit_style :non_ajax
end

Is some of these features ready now?
I'm having trouble with the fader effect on the popup window when I
create new data. the fading is slow (I think firefox is not effecitve
on my ubuntu, even though I have fireGL and fireGl drivers).

Is it possible also to autoclose the popup on Create?
It is more natural to continue back in the list after object is created
instead of in the same popup.

If you want to get rid of the fader effect, for now, just open
Streamlined.js, find the open_local_window_from_url method, find the
options and remove the Effect.Fade option.

0.0.6 allows you to pass those options into the method.
