I am so excited that Cheryl is playing with The Strangelings. Trust
me, if nothing else, the name suits her so well. And I mean that in
the best way possible!  I am so confident this band will grow in
popularity I will be the first to request that I am put on a fan list,
that gurantees me 1st opportunity for tickets when you guys are
selling out future venues. This really is a great genre of music, and
this band does it so well. I can't wait to see them live in NYC,
Please schedule some dates soon. If you need me to, I know the owner
at the Lakeside Lounge. Very small place, but it is a east village
landmark.

I though it a bit "strange" that this is coming to the group now,
given she's been playing in the band for several months (since at
least Falcon Ridge, maybe before?).

In "Cheryl Prashker Dec. News!" received today....

Next, I am extremely excited to announce that I have joined a Folk
Super Group
of sorts called
THE STRANGELINGS
We played our first big show closing Saturday night at The Falcon
Ridge Folk
Festival. Had a Formal Showcase at NERFA and it was just announced
that we will
be showcasing at The International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis
in Feb.
This next year plans to be a big one for this group. It includes:
Pete and Maura Kennedy, Chris Thompson, Ken Anderson and Rebecca Hall
and the
very talented Eric Lee on fiddle (who joined the group at Falcon
Ridge!!) as
well as myself on full drum kit!!
Here is how I best describe this group:
Fairport Convention meets a female Jethro Tull at Loreena McKennit's
castle!

Yes, Roscoe played on our "Life Is Large" CD (the Kennedys, that is).   He
and Mary Lee are good friends of ours. We are scheduled to play the Outpost  in
the Burbs in Montclair NJ in April (the 11th, I believe), and we will return
to the Falcon Ridge Folk Fest as well.

We'll put you on the Strangelings email list.
Thanks!

the mad one sayeth,

Strangelings at FRFF again this year?  Sweet.  That's music to my
ears.  Count Orsino in Twelfth Night: "If music be the food of love,
play on!"

One could wish that there would never be another episode like last
year's bout of obsessing, fan-flag-waving, glad-ragging, heart-
wrenching, and hand-wringing over "The Kennedys not at Falcon Ridge."
Can we miss that chapter this time around?  Beach Boys: "Wouldn't It
Be Nice?"  :-)

There was even a t-shirt campaign!  Now I haven't seen one of those
"Bring Back Pete & Maura Kennedy to FRFF" t-shirts at a show yet,
thanks to Anne Saunders' perspicacity in orchestrating the
Strangelings' triumph.  Dude!  And what a triumph it was!  Sandy
Denny: "No More Sad Refrains."  Valerie Carter and Jack Wagner: "Love
Can Take Us All the Way."  The Kennedys: "Life Is Large"!  :-)
