Subject: Decay coefficient

Hello dear SWMM-users,

I was wondering : when is the decay coefficient for the pollutants used, and
how sensitive is the model to this decay coefficient ? (=what is / are the
equation(s) ?)
Having no real mesured values for the case of my tropical city (in Brazil),
I am looking through literature to try to find values for reasonably
equivalent situations. I therefore wanted to know what weight these
estimations had on my system.

Thank you in advance!

Stephanie.

Subject: Transition from closed pipe to open channel flow

Good day all,

I am currently trying to model a system where a 1.05m pipe discharges
into a 1.05m deep trapezoidal channel.

The slopes stay constant through the transition, however I am finding
routing errors just upstream from this transition.

If one transitions from closed flow to open flow, surely there is no
backwater, as the cross-section widens.

I believe that the error lies in the transition zone from closed to open
- and I would like to know the best way to model this in SWWM.

Regards
