from a usability perspective your site considered dangerous!
You say my site is danerous site but it's not listed in your
"clearinghouse"? I can't even get to the review form. There is no one
to call, no one to email, the review appears to be automated on
google's end and I'm stuck going to a google group to rant?
If this was any other industry you'd be sending me and a few million
other website owners checks for a dollar and six cents in a few years.
Do you have any idea how much you are costing google is mindshare? I
hope not. I feel like I have been personally attacked. Maybe it's
because one of my client's sites got dropped from the google index for
no apparent reason.
Do you think I like malware or badware? Do you think I support
spammers or spam? Attacking me for something I don't understand isn't
too kewl and you will pay in the end.
Here's one idea... When you tell people my site is dangerous, tell
them why, tell me why and explain how to fix it.
Leaving the site owner in the dark when you do this will only get your
*&^$-kicked at the next seo conference. )*(&%*&^%$
Anything goes from this point forward. I will never support "any"
effort that uses these kinds of tactics. Without a clear path to
fixing the problem, you've left me a touch, no a wee-bit upset. You've
confused the message I'm trying to get across to my visitors and now
I'll do the same to your "badware" efforts. Specifcally,
stopbadware.org. I'll also be recommending much less google inclusive
marketing strategy when I teach. I will probably forget someday why I
even started disrupting your image by the time I stop.
(I feel better already...)
I think many others share your pain. While what Google is doing is a
great and noble thing, it is like most of their programs and ideas
which are half-baked and poorly implemented. I think Google has far
out grown the management staff's ability to oversee their
programs...something about raising to the maximum level of
incompetence comes to mind...LOL. Google is notorious for creating
what they call beta applications and letting users sort it out and fix
the problems for them with no real investment of time and energy on
Google's part.

You can't blame him for being pissed off! I know I was when I did not have a clue as to why my site was banned. I think that you people might need to consider what he is asking here - like be more informative and give the banned sites and webmasters a clue as to why they are included on the bad boy list...
I sincerely hope that my post didn't make it sound like I was blaming
him for being "pissed off" because that was never my intention. I was
trying to support him for having that emotion, and placing any blame
for a poorly implemented program where it belongs.

If you will leave more information (affected sites), the people who
volunteer at StopBadware will help to correct your problem.
StopBadware is not the problem, but they are your best possible
solution.
Best Wishes

I woke up feeling badly about ranting back. I don't usually repeat
negative behavior when I feel I've been wronged. I apologize for
bringing negativity to the web. This morning I got an email from
someone asking about advertising on my site. They also asked what the
deal was with the "dangerous site". My site is small potatoes. I only
service a small number of travelers. Google AdSense doesn't pay me
anything. A couple bucks from a real advertiser could be meaningful to
me.
To be fair, I do have the magnify video widget and I did have both a
competing advertiser's widget and a blogoshere widget installed. I
never had anything installed that seemed anything like "badware" or
remotely harmful to anyone. Someone has crossed the line. I always
thought the folks that considered Google, Evil just didn't understand
the good they were doing. It sure doesn't take much evil to make the
perception of good go away.
Again, I'm not listed in the stopbadware.org clearinghouse.
I think the bottom line here is that stopbadware and Google don't feel
they would get sued by us but do feel they would get sued by companies
put on a list of badware, malware or identified as "dangerous".
There's liability in calling a company's software "dangerous" but
calling my site dangerous must somehow be okay.
MSN adcenter ust got another customer and Google Adsense just lost
one. Stopbadware will never be mentioned in any of my presentations
online or at conferences. This is just not the best way to handle this
-from my perspective anyway LOL!
Google is a big tree, I am the small axe.
robster, Daniel, thank you both for not making me feel any worse after
losing my kewl. (I suppose I don't sound any more pleasant this
morning... getting worked up again... ugh)
Is anyone else interested in how many sites are being affected?
Shouldn't there be a warning system? What if we had numbers on how
helpful the program is? Or how many times they're wrong?
I suspect this program is being instituted by stopbadware who is no
doubt benefiting from the exposure. If Google were doing this, they
would have access to my email address and could probably send me a
note before announcing that my site is dangerous. "Dangerous" just
doesn't sound googly to me.
Can't wait to stop by the Stopbadware and Google booths at the next
conference!
No Aloha?
No Problem!!!!!!!
Again, thanks guys for the compassion... I'm taking this on the road
to other forums and blogs now...

I've sent review requests to Google. The review still reports
problems. I've probably caused everyone at stopbadware.org to hate me.
It would make sense that they would be the ones in the position to
help most. ugh
Okay, I'm naked before you. I've swallowed my pride, Please Help!
...But before you do, know that I am going to stop your organization
from doing this to anyone else in the future.
If you're still okay with that, the domain is bigislandfun.com
Any help would be greatly appreciated and noted at which time my
site's good standing is returned and the "This site may harm your
computer" message is removed. Each day the message appears to my
visitors will be another day I fight malorgs. Find the definition of a
malorg in my other post(s) in this group.

It looks like your site has been compromised, probably using a recent
WordPress SQL injection attack. See http://forum.darwincentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10022 for another webmaster talking about that attack. You have this HTML
on your homepage (and probably a number of other pages too):

I've cleaned the homepage and will continue to scour the rest of my
sites/pages. This was really straight-forward. I hope this post is
helpful to anyone else looking to clean up their own sites. A better
way might be to have a check box in Google webmastertools that lets me
decide if I want an email warning "before" a "harmful" warning is
associated with my online brand.
I didn't deserve this kind of treatment. Google and Stopbadware's
efforts directly assisted the organization that added this code to my
site in causing me pain. In the real world we have systems in place to
insure this doesn't happen in reality. I think Google should more
carefully consider taking actions online that have negative
consequences when there is no precedence in reality. I know, leave it
for another discussion.
The most positive part of all of this is that I was inspired to create
malorg.com, a place where anyone can give voice to their concerns over
organizations that appear helpful to most people when in actuality
they can do sometime hurt people that don't deserve it because of
their practices and policies. I'll add a form to allow visitors to
submit organizations later today.
Isn't the web grand. Thanks for sharing it with me.
Also, I got an email from Rick at the same time. Thank you Rick! Also
got a post with the same fix from Makul. Thanks again Makul.

I am very glad things are beginning to work out for you. While I post
here occasionally and attempt to learn a little, I am not one of the
highly skilled and knowledgeable people that help so many people get
their web site back on track. In fact, I am relatively certain that
more than a few wish that I would loose the link or forget about this
group. In the past, my opinions and comments have received less than
favorable responses, and I am fairly sure that once again I have not
made any friends with the Google staff.

Cleaning your home page did no good. Your site has been hacked and
remains hackable. The iframe reported by Oliver is now back on the
page. The home page also has, in a noscript tag, a link to www .
kalomtb . com offering free online poker in German, which has probably
also been injected since it is unlike the other links on your page.
The poker site isn't badware-flagged, so it's not a reason your site
would be flagged, but it is additional evidence that you've been
hacked.
A web search on the IP address "61.132.75.71" will find other
references to this iframe injection.
You need to update WordPress if a patch is available for this
problem.

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate the follow up and direction. Very
useful information. I've upgraded the site (deleted the pages and the
database) to 2.3.2 of WordPress. As I continue to do the work
necessary to secure my sites and my client sites I'll be telling
everyone wy. The good news is that it's turned into a new revenue
stream and cause for "alarm" which in turn probably causes fear in my
clients. In this fear-based economy of Google demonization and
Stobadware threats, there's actually a lot of opportunity. I suppose
if the hackers are the reason for these tactics, they also get the
credit for increased revenue and the multi-billion dollar security
spending.
Steve, thank you for being part of the solution.
