Hello fellow Stone Bridge Drivers,

The Grand Prix Festival Committee now has a very exciting Featured Marque for 2013. Can you guess what it is?

Let me first fill you in on how this works each year. The featured marque that we choose each year is based on several factors. First we look at historical significance. After that we have to look at the reality. Can we get enough of those cars to fill the Tour de Marque? Will anyone be interested in coming to the festival to see those cars? Will the SVRA and WGI be willing to have the same car as their featured marque at the track? And of course they look at historical significance and then the reality of whether they can get enough cars to fill a race group, etc.

After extensive deliberation we have a decision. Now let me give you a few clues and see who is the first to correctly guess it.

The early version was designed by someone who has been knighted. It’s not a Renault R-5 or a Morris Minor.

Let me know your guesses,

Casey

Must be Mini? George.

Yes you are right. The Featured Marque for the 2013 Grand Prix Festival is the Fabulous Mini.

Anything is possible. The question is whether enough Jag owners would show up or not.

There's a lot of them, and they have several good-sized clubs within a days ride, plus they are common in vintage racing. JANE (Jaguar Assn of New England) would probably have at least 20 or 30 interested plus our own cadre of vintage race drivers). Just don't suggest it for 2014 as that is the year of The Annual General Meeting (all the clubs in JOC around rthe US) being held in Boston, which will divert energy. Plus there is a big Jag owners club in the Buffalo area, another in CT, etc. Its one of the few marques where new models are still avalable and being used for transportation. Great transportation maybe, but still transportation. Oh well, just my 2 pence. Here-check out the New England club: www.j-a-n-e.org
