Sorry it's taken so long folks.
We're going to try to do walks every Wednesday evening. It seems to be a safe night where we don't conflict with any regular town meetings in either Stowe or the Rocks. Unfortunately it's a bad night for me due to regular other commitments, but I will rearrange that if I have to.
The next captain's meeting is August 5, the next full Block Watch meeting is Sept. 3, the Tuesday after Labor Day.
The PIcnic was scheduled for August 10, a Saturday. Since Target is a sponsor of National Night Out, which is the first Tuesday of August every year, we discussed holding the picnic on National Night Out.
The people who were at the meeting seemed to feel that was a good idea, and we'd better represent the intent of the picnic. Additionally, we discussed doing tickets for food, two food items and a beverage, Last year turned into a zoo with people filling bags with cans of pop and water and taking them out of the park, as well as stacks of plates of food. I think we'd need to do a hand stamp as well when we dole out the tickets, to keep people from cycling through. The intent of the picnic is to make people aware of National Night Out and the Block Watch. I'd like to have cards, magnets, flyers--things to hand out with our information, how to join, and the incident database website as well.
The Chief commented he'd like to have some car clings for police vehicles with the incident database website on them. Specifically he mentioned reflective things to put on the rear bumpers of the cruisers. That discussion led to investigating window clings, refridgerator magnets, etc. with the database address on it.
