Hello,

I think it would be a generally good idea that we have a requirement
that everyone give a lightning talk of some sort at some sort of
interval (to be decided). This would have a multi prong effect.

1). We would all get to know each other better
2). More content for meetings
3). More participation in general
4). It would help us all become better speakers

I've heard some members have been silent attendees and I would like to
see them come to the forefront. I'm ready to go first to kick it off :)

That sounds like a great idea!

Talks about?? Normally, 'Lightening Talks' are on any subject - we may
wish to focus on Ruby/Rails; however I would suggest *not* limiting to
just coding.

It doesn't necessarily have to be coding related. I would tend to do
coding stuff since that's what I like, but I don't see it as a
requirement.

The first St. Louis Javascript meeting I went to had a lightning talk
about how to talk to women (which was funny btw).

I don't know about making it a requirement, but perhaps picking a presenter for the next meeting at the end would be good. Then we could peer pressure, er... I mean encourage wallflowers to participate.

Could do it that way, but I wanted to be upfront about it :)
