Now Steel keeps the screen always on. But I don't like this behavior
because I often put down the mobile to do something and continue
reading after a while. But the mobile can't go to sleep when Steel is
in the front.

Could you add an option in the setting to enable/disable "keep screen
on"?

Thanks

You can just do an short tap on the the red Phone button and the G1
goes in Lock mode.

It's been requested,
and implemented,
will be in 0.1.8, coming to a market near you today or tomorrow.

I think this "feature" is responsible for my G1's battery dying after
a couple hours. Steps to reproduce:

1) go to a page in Steel
2) press the red button to turn off the screen
3) the screen turns off
4) press the Menu button
5) the screen-lock screen appears
6) watch the minutes go by on the screen-lock screen; it never shuts
off

I think the Menu button in Step 4 is getting pressed accidentally
while the phone is in its case or in my pocket. Once the screen comes
on, it never turns off again. That has resulted in my phone going
dead, sometimes in the middle of the day, for what I thought was no
reason.

I am trying to train myself to switch back to the Home screen after
using Steel to prevent this from happening to me all the time.

Not sure if anyone has talked about the downloading feature but mine isn't working...it won't download .... it freezes once it starts or doesn't work at all...it use to download very quickly ..... just recently it started messing up...
