I'm reading and posting using steel on the g1, its hooked me away from
devotion to opera mini as it seems more finger friendly. My trackball
is getting intermittent...shades of sony ericsson joysticks for a
moment then. I like the g1 but I'm having to learn new ways of using
it and the browser is the main vehicle. Its not the point and send
mms/sms camera machine my k800I was :(

Finally my question. Steel is feature rich but - and I don't know how
to check which version I have - enormous!

When it stabilises is it likely to be optimisable down 5 megs is a lot
given all the goodies the g1 tempts us with?

Meanwhile excellent add-on for the g1

(Has anyone else been tempted to paw at their laptop screen when
something needs moving...scary!)

Nothing to do with a learning curve, the data comes from the web data
the browser accumulates from browsing. By re-installing the app, the
data got wiped. As soon as you start browsing again, it will grow up
to a max of about 16MB.
Not much you can do about it. The app itself is only a couple hundred
kB.
