Hey, there. I posted some ideas for the SIG Twitter account last week here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e9hebp6HMPxNsLaE4Gmu5nEZGqy0E1mU-q4nt-b9p20/edit
There was a suggestion to shorten the name, and use a widget to automatically tweet when there is a new blog post on the SIG site.

I can go ahead and create the account in the next day or two, if you all think these guidelines are OK to start.
What do you think? Are these guidelines helpful for knowing what to tweet? Do they they give you ideas, or confuse you? Does anything need more clarification?

We just need a couple more people willing to help tweet.

Hi Kristi,

Am in the UK, in a hotel with free (and flaky) wifi in the lobby so won't even try to pull up a Google doc from here. I'll see if I can get in from the new hotel tomorrow - that should work a little better, I hope.

Hi Rahel, have you had a chance to check out the STC CS Twitter guidelines? I'll have time to create the account this weekend, once we're clear on the name and all are squared away.
We'll definitely need more than just me tweeting, though. I can't guarantee I'll always be able to tweet enough.

Hi Kristi,

I hadn't had a chance before now, but have just read the guidelines and they seem fine. I like the idea of STC_CS - short but recognizable.

As for a tweeting game plan, I like to use FutureTweets (or some similar service, I'm not fussy on which one) to queue up tweets when I know I'll be too busy to tweet. I think we could get Bill Swallow and Ray Gallon to help out, as they wanted to help with the SIG. Once we have a strategy for carrying out our goal, then what specifically to tweet will come naturally, I think. And we don't want to inundate people, either, so a nice balance is good. Maybe a tweet a day for now, and more later on?

What do you think?

Hi Kristi,

I went into the Google doc and added my name under the volunteer list. Did you set up an account? In the 2012 SIG activities page, I added @stc-cs but should I have added STC_CS instead?

I'm about ready to start tweeting - thinking up some good ones.

Yes, it's an underscore. https://twitter.com/#!/stc_cs
We need an image. I thought about asking to use the icon from the STC.org communities page, but I'm not sure it's that meaningful, in this context.
Suggestions?

BTW, our SIG URL is stc-cs.org - do you think it could be confusing to have stc-cs in one place and stc_cs in another?

I looked at the icon from the communities page. I'm not really crazy about it but can't think of anything else at the moment. I say there's no tragedy in using it this year. (And we should probably put it on the SIG page as well.)
