Position: Marketplace Operations Analyst, Yahoo!
Location: Yahoo! HQ in Sunnyvale/GA Santa Clara, California
Yahoo's Advertiser & Publisher Group is leading the transformation
for how Advertisers connect with their customers across the Internet.
We're looking for dynamic and versatile professionals that are committed
to making a huge impact in a rapidly growing business.
The Display Marketplace Operations Analyst will play an important role in
helping Yahoo! manage the demand for display advertising inventory and
the monetization of this inventory. The Analyst will monitor marketplace
dynamics and performance across the Yahoo! Ad Network; develop thorough,
accurate analyses for monetization and yield improvement initiatives;
build tools and dashboards for efficient monitoring of marketplace
operations; and work with product & engineering teams to improve
underlying processes and systems.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a quantitative,
data-driven role in an operational or pricing/yield environment and will
demonstrate: 1) a deep commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all
analyses and reporting tasks, 2) strong quantitative skills, 3)
independence and pro-activity in identifying areas for improvement in
data, systems and processes, 4) a blend of business and technical skills
and a successful track-record of applying quantitative decision-making
techniques in a business-setting, and 5) experience with complex database
and reporting environments.
Also important is the ability to communicate and work with a wide range
of groups, including engineering, sales and management.
Job responsibilities will include:
Monitor dynamics and performance of Yahoo! advertising inventory and
build dashboards and tools to help improve the team’s ability to monitor
performance.
Develop quantitative analyses, custom models and ad hoc reports to
effectively communicate performance, trends, and opportunities
Provide network and advertising operations teams with insights and
intelligence
Work with product teams to recommend enhancements to marketplace
platforms, reporting, and back-office systems
Work with the Display Marketplace team to identify new opportunities,
capabilities, and processes that will grow long-term value for Yahoo!
Develop presentation materials to support recommendations and
communicate results
Job requirements include:
Education: Bachelors degree with a focus on business, economics,
engineering, computer science, math or related engineering/quantitative
discipline; MBA/MS is desirable.
Experience: 2-3 years professional experience in areas related to
quantitative analysis; prior experience at Online media companies or
auction-based marketplaces is a strong plus
Solid business sense: Previous experience in business consulting,
with particular emphasis on quantitative modeling, is a plus.
Technical: Proficiency in Excel, SQL, database applications and other
analysis tools is a critical requirement for success on the job.
Experience with Microstrategy or other reporting tools is a plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Ability to present
results of complex analyses clearly and to interface with
cross-functional teams at different levels of seniority. Ability to
communicate and translate business needs into comprehensive data and
reporting requirements.
